King Khalid University folds the STEP English test into all three of its formulas — unusual among Saudi universities. Health, engineering, computer science, architecture, tourism and arts: 30% GPA, 30% GAT, 35% SAAT and 5% STEP. The College of Languages and Translation: 30%, 30%, 25% and 15% STEP. All other colleges: 30%, 30% and 40% with no STEP. The same weights apply to male and female applicants.

The practical consequence: at KKU you cannot skip STEP if you are targeting a health or engineering track, even at a weight of five percent. In a competition decided by tenths of a mark, five empty percentage points are enough to cost you the seat.

Is the STEP test required for admission to King Khalid University?
It depends on your college. Per the published weighting table, STEP carries 5% for health, engineering and related colleges, 15% for the College of Languages and Translation, and no weight at all for the remaining colleges.
Why is SAAT weighted 35% rather than 40% at KKU?
Because the remaining five points were assigned to STEP in the health and engineering track. Weights always total 100%, so introducing a new component means taking it from another one — here it came out of the SAAT.
How much does STEP count for the College of Languages at KKU?
15%, the highest across the university's formulas. In exchange the SAAT weight drops to 25%. That is coherent for a languages programme: English proficiency predicts success there more closely than a science achievement score.
Do KKU weights differ between male and female applicants?
No. The official table marks each formula as applying to both, so all three weightings are applied equally regardless of gender — unlike some universities that split their formulas by gender.
If I have not taken STEP, does it count as zero?

Which KKU track gives the SAAT the greatest weight?
